PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Downtown Plymouth’s outdoor season is in its last couple of weeks, and the next big change coming to the area is construction, not patios.
The Plymouth Community Farmers Market holds its final Saturday of the year on Oct. 24. It sets up in The Gathering from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dining on the public-space patios ends Saturday, Oct. 31, though the downtown development authority notes the weather may decide that sooner.
The downtown also wrapped another season of its Adopt-A-Planter program, in which more than 40 people and organizations plant the public planters while the DDA waters and tends them from May to October. Anyone who wants to sponsor one can join a waitlist through the DDA.
Looking ahead, the DDA board voted in August to bring on professional grant writers to chase state and federal money for DTPForward, the downtown streetscape overhaul. City and DDA staff have also met with SEMCOG and MDOT about possible funding.
Engineering and design approvals for the first phase, known as Western Edge or Set 2, were expected in October. That phase covers parts of Harvey and Wing streets, and construction is planned for spring 2027. The DDA posts project videos on its YouTube channel.
