James “Jim” Edward Murdock
Jim Murdock passed away after a full life dedicated to his family and career. Born on April 5, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of James and Juanita Murdock. Jim is survived by his six children: James, Nancy, Charles, Elizabeth, Ed, and Diane, along with a large family of 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, John, Donald, and Donna.
Jim enjoyed a successful 30-year career as a District Manager for the Detroit News before retiring. Following his retirement, he relocated to North Port, Florida, where he spent 23 years enjoying leisure activities such as fishing, golfing, and following the Detroit Tigers and Lions. He was known for his friendly nature, often meeting up with former colleagues from the Detroit News and enjoying outings at the beach.
Eventually, Jim returned to Michigan and settled in an assisted living home in Plymouth, where he became affectionately known as “Jimmy” or the “Music Man” due to his love for music. A celebration honoring Jim’s life is scheduled for Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Keehn-Griffin Funeral Home in Brighton. The event will run from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. with the service beginning at 3 p.m.

Max dedicated 30 years of his life working for Philco-Ford-Visteon as an electrical engineer, specializing in vehicle radios. Beyond his professional career, Max was known for his passion for tinkering and was a lifelong Amateur Radio Operator (HAM). He also enjoyed woodworking and had a keen interest in vehicle infotainment systems.
His family expresses appreciation for the exceptional care provided by the staff at Novi Lakes Health Campus and Brighton Hospice during his final days.
