PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Plymouth High School football found its way into the state playoffs despite a losing record, and the reward is a road trip to one of the best teams in Michigan.
The Wildcats, 4-5 in the regular season, will visit undefeated Detroit Cass Tech, 9-0, in a Division 1 district semifinal, according to the brackets the Michigan High School Athletic Association posted Sunday, Oct. 25.
The state association took the top 32 teams in each 11-player division by playoff-point average. Plymouth came in at 51.333, well behind Cass Tech’s 76.861, so Cass Tech hosts.
The matchup sits in Region 3, District 1, alongside Belleville, 6-3, at Dearborn Fordson, 7-2. Winners meet in the district final the weekend of Nov. 6-7.
First-round games will be played Oct. 30 or 31, with the host school choosing the day and kickoff time. District semifinal tickets cost $8. Plymouth is one of three high schools run by Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, along with Canton and Salem.
