PLYMOUTH, Mich. — The Plymouth High School football team in Plymouth, Mich., goes into Sunday, Oct. 25, waiting to learn whether a 4-5 season is enough to earn a spot in the state playoffs.
Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, the Wildcats held the No. 32 position in Division 1 with an average of 51.333 playoff points. That is the last qualifying slot, because the Michigan High School Athletic Association takes the top 32 schools by playoff-point average in each of its eight 11-player divisions. Bloomfield Hills sat just ahead at No. 31.
The official field and first-round pairings will be revealed during the Selection Sunday Show, which the NFHS Network streams starting at 5 p.m. The association will post the brackets on its website after the show and add game dates and kickoff times on Monday, Oct. 26.
Opening-round games are set for the weekend of Oct. 30-31. Ford Field in Detroit hosts the 11-player title games on Nov. 27 and 28.
Northville, a Plymouth neighbor, was 11th on the same Division 1 list at 7-2.
