PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Plymouth Township Police Department investigators say an 18-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint Sunday evening at a Shell gas station on Five Mile Road near Beck Road, and a 35-year-old Wayne woman was later taken into custody in Dearborn.

Officers responded about 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, after a 911 call from the Shell at the corner of Five Mile and Beck. The victim told police a woman armed with a black semi-automatic pistol stole her wallet and cell phone, then fled in a black Jeep sport utility vehicle.

Plymouth Township detectives and Dearborn Police Department officers located the suspect and the Jeep in the parking lot of a Dearborn gas station later Sunday. Officers recovered the victim’s stolen property and the firearm suspected in the robbery, police said.

Investigators also recovered evidence that they say may link the suspect to other serious crimes across Metro Detroit. Plymouth Township Police Chief James H. Knittel said a coordinated effort with Dearborn resulted in the arrest of a dangerous suspect on an active crime spree.

The case is being prepared for review by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Hayes at 734-354-3234.
