PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Joe Tollefson and Craig Olzak drew the most votes from City of Plymouth voters for three full six-year seats on the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools board, according to the unofficial summary the city clerk posted after polls closed Tuesday night.
Tollefson finished with 2,776 votes and Olzak with 2,740 in the city count. Aamina Ahmed, a sitting trustee, had 2,262, and Dan Lemieux had 1,719. The district also takes in Canton and Plymouth townships, so the city tally is only one part of the districtwide race.
Tollefson joined the board in July, when trustees appointed him to the seat left open by the June resignation of Sheryl Picard. Lester Booker Jr., the only name on the ballot for the partial term that runs through 2028, received 2,850 city votes.
In the race for four seats on the Plymouth District Library board, Michael F. Pappas led with 2,547 city votes, followed by Jessica Yaser with 2,461, Yasir Khogali with 2,015 and Lynn Broniak-Hull with 1,831. Joseph H. LeBlanc trailed with 1,494.
City voters also backed renewing the Schoolcraft College operating millage, 3,903 to 1,395. Turnout reached 72 percent, with 6,005 of the city’s 8,340 registered voters casting ballots.
A proposed school sinking fund that had been expected this fall did not make the ballot after a processing error, and trustees plan to bring it to voters in May 2027. All results stay unofficial until the Wayne County Board of Canvassers certifies them.
