PLYMOUTH, Mich. — The auxiliary at Plymouth VFW Post 6695 will hold its yearly meat raffle on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the post hall at 1426 S. Mill Street in Plymouth, Mich.
Doors will open at 2 p.m., and drawings start at 3 p.m. and run until every prize has been claimed.
A $20 entry puts a player into all 14 rounds. Each round offers at least 14 prizes, from turkeys, hams and steaks to pork roasts, burgers, chickens and brats, and the last round holds some of the top items. Separate basket raffles will run alongside the main drawing.
Hot dogs, sloppy joes, pulled pork and baked beans will be sold on site, along with drinks. Organizers suggest that winners bring a cooler to carry their prizes home.
World War II veterans started the post in 1946. Its full name is the Mayflower Lt. Gamble post, and its hall was named for Lt. Edmund Gamble, a Plymouth man killed in the war while assigned to the 550th Bomber Squadron. Outside groups can also book the hall for their own gatherings.
