Plymouth, Michigan: Miller Woods fall foliage tours Oct. 18 and 25

Published October 5, 2026 at 8:24 am | By Antony Ray, Staff Reporter

Plymouth, Michigan residents can walk the fall colors with volunteer tree experts at Miller Woods on two upcoming Sunday afternoons.

Free guided tours are set for Oct. 18 and Oct. 25. Groups leave every 30 minutes between 2 and 4 p.m., and each walk lasts about an hour on the preserve’s roughly one-third-mile loop through old-growth forest. The unpaved path is mostly flat but has tree roots and uneven ground, so walkers should be ready for that terrain. The entrance is on Powell Road east of Ridge Road in Plymouth Township, with parking along the road.

Donations are accepted to support trail maintenance and keep invasive species out of the 10-acre preserve, which includes trees that are hundreds of years old. Weather changes, if any, are posted the day of the tour. Visitors who miss a guided tour can still stop by between dawn and dusk; some trees are labeled for identification, and bikes, strollers, and dogs stay outside the fence.
