Holland, Michigan – Alleen Carson, age 81, passed away on October 10th, 2025, following a brave fight against aggressive cancer. Surrounded by her family in her final moments, Alleen leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and dedication to her community.
Born on June 25th, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, to Alfred and Kathleen Trongo, she was the cherished daughter of her parents who both predeceased her—Alfred in 2002 and Kathleen in 2020. Alleen attended Our Lady Gate of Heaven Grammar School before graduating from Rosary High School in 1962. She later enrolled at Henry Ford Community College, where she made lasting friendships, particularly through a group she formed called the “Plymouth Neighborhood Gang” during her time living in Plymouth, Michigan.
Her first professional role was as a Customer Service Representative for Consumer’s Energy. In 1964, she met Carl Carson through mutual friends, ultimately marrying in 1967. Her husband worked for American Airlines, and the couple enjoyed extensive traveling during their marriage. After moving to Detroit, where they lived in a home passed down from Alleen’s grandmother, they later relocated to Belding, Michigan, in 1972 where they became active members of the local Jaycees, nurturing many friendships in the area.
In 1974, the Carsons built a home across from Half-Mile Lake in Greenville, Michigan. Their family grew with the birth of their first son, James, on October 9th, 1975, followed by their second son, Robert, on May 1st, 1979. The family shared significant events together, traveled frequently, and established lifelong friendships before moving to the Holland Heights neighborhood in 1984. In Holland, Alleen initially worked for the March of Dimes and later became a Reading Specialist with the Holland Public School System, primarily at Holland Heights Elementary School. Her passion for teaching was driven by her desire to assist children and contribute positively to her community.
Throughout her 40 years in Holland Heights, Alleen was actively involved in various volunteer activities. Known for her kindness, generosity, and empathy, she watched generations of neighborhood children grow up. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling extensively with her sister, taking many cruises and documenting their adventures through photography.
Only a few years after retirement, Alleen faced the loss of her husband, Carl Carson, in 1998. Following his passing, her devotion to her family intensified, including her role as a grandmother to her four grandchildren: Kate and Olivia, daughters of Jim and Megan Carson, and Karah and Ethan, children of Rob and Charity Carson. She participated in their lives by attending events and hosting family gatherings.
Alleen is survived by her sons, Jim Carson (with wife Megan and daughters Kate and Olivia) and Rob Carson (with wife Charity and children Karah and Ethan), as well as her sister Karen Zaleski and niece Melanie (with husband Brandon Spence). A Celebration of Life for Alleen Carson is set for October 24th, 2025, at Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel in Holland, Michigan. The visitation will start at 10 AM, followed by an 11 AM service and a lunch afterward. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Holland Heights Elementary School Teachers Fund for student school supplies.
