PLYMOUTH, Mich. — City of Plymouth crews roll into Area D on Monday, Nov. 9, for the next round of fall bulk leaf collection, and residents there should have their piles at the curb by 7 a.m. that day.

Trucks will keep working Area D through Friday, Nov. 13. The service is free to any city resident or business, and crews have to be able to reach each pile from the street. Neighbors can check a city map and schedule to see which pickup area covers their block, and signs go up to flag the right week.

The city has a short list of dos and don’ts. Park away from leaf piles, since hot exhaust systems can set leaves on fire. Leaves left over storm drains can send rainwater pooling into the street, so keep the grates clear.

Only leaves belong in the loose pile. Pumpkins, corn stalks, grass clippings, twigs, firewood, rocks, dirt, stumps and root balls stay out; that material can be set out in a kraft bag or compost can on the regular compost route. Limbs waiting for brush chipping go in their own pile.

Residents who would rather not rake to the curb can also bag leaves or put them in a can for compost collection.
