PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has sued HailgateA2 LLC and its Plymouth Township founder, alleging customers paid for University of Michigan tickets and memorabilia that never arrived.

The complaint, filed Oct. 8 in Wayne County Circuit Court, asks a judge to dissolve the company, award damages and civil fines, and bar the founder and Hailgate from selling tickets or memorabilia tied to Michigan athletics or events at Michigan Stadium.

Hailgate began as a Wolverines tailgating group in 2021 and later became a company. State investigators say buyers reported missing football tickets, concert packages linked to Michigan Stadium shows, and items such as a helmet marking the 2023 national championship that three people paid for but never received.

In one case cited in the suit, a buyer paid about $1,400 for seven tickets for out-of-state fans and allegedly got one valid ticket and six false ones, then was told to buy replacements with a promised reimbursement that never came.

Nessel said the Consumer Protection Team heard reports of thousands of dollars in undelivered tickets and memorabilia. Shoppers who think they were cheated can reach that team at 877-765-8388 or through its online complaint form. The 35th District Court in Plymouth Township handles many local civil and criminal matters for the city and township.
